Ronin Wallet Guide: Send RON, AXS and Game Tokens Safely
Updated , 8 minute read
A Ronin wallet holds RON, the gas coin of the Ronin gaming network, along with AXS, SLP and other game tokens on a 0x address. Keylo creates the wallet in your browser and signs Ronin transactions locally. Ronin became an Ethereum layer 2 in May 2026 and some apps still show addresses with a ronin: prefix, so knowing how to read both formats is the first safety step.

What is Ronin?
Ronin is a blockchain built by Sky Mavis, the studio behind Axie Infinity, to give games cheap, fast transactions that Ethereum could not offer in 2021. It started as an Ethereum sidechain run by its own validators, grew into one of the busiest gaming networks, and opened up to other studios, hosting titles such as Pixels alongside a marketplace for game items.
On 12 May 2026 Ronin completed a hard fork that turned it into an Ethereum layer 2 built on the OP Stack, with EigenDA handling data availability. The chain ID stayed 2020 and RON stayed the gas token, and ordinary players did not need to do anything; balances and addresses carried over. The change ties Ronin's settlement to Ethereum and came with a large cut in RON issuance.
Most activity on Ronin is still about games: buying and selling NFTs, earning in-game tokens and moving items between players. That shapes the risks too. Scams on Ronin tend to target players through fake game sites, marketplace links and free-mint offers rather than through complicated DeFi.
Ronin addresses: ronin: and 0x are the same
For years, Ronin Wallet displayed addresses with a ronin: prefix instead of 0x, for example ronin:abc123 where an Ethereum wallet would show 0xabc123. Ronin later moved to the 0x format, but some apps, guides and exchange pages still use the old style. Both formats point to exactly the same account: only the first characters differ, and the 40 characters after them are identical.
Keylo uses the 0x form. If someone gives you a ronin: address, replace ronin: with 0x and keep every other character the same before pasting it into Keylo. Going the other way, if a Ronin app insists on the old format, swap 0x for ronin:. The account on Ronin is separate from the same address on Ethereum, so 0xabc123 on Ronin and 0xabc123 on Ethereum hold different balances.
Ronin also offers keyless accounts that players create with an email or social login, and game studios sometimes create accounts for players automatically. Those accounts have 0x addresses too, but they are controlled through the login provider rather than a recovery phrase. You can send assets between such an account and Keylo on Ronin, but you cannot import a keyless account into Keylo.
How to create a Ronin wallet with Keylo
Keylo's servers only store the encrypted wallet and never see your password, phrase or keys, so Keylo cannot move your RON or recover your account. If you already have a Ronin Wallet recovery phrase, you can import it; Ronin Wallet derives accounts on the standard Ethereum path, so the first account should match. Accounts created with social login or other keyless methods have no phrase to import.
- 1
Open create a wallet in a current browser on your phone, tablet or computer.
- 2
Sign up with your name, email, phone and a strong password, then confirm your email.
- 3
Keylo generates a 12-word recovery phrase in your browser and encrypts it with a key derived from your password.
- 4
Choose Ronin in the network list to see your RON balance and 0x address.
- 5
In Settings, re-enter your password, reveal the phrase and write it down offline before you hold valuable items.
How to receive RON and game tokens
Exchanges that support Ronin usually let you withdraw RON, AXS and sometimes SLP directly on the Ronin network. That is cheaper and simpler than withdrawing on Ethereum and bridging. If your exchange only offers Ethereum, the tokens will appear in Keylo under Ethereum, and you will need ETH for gas and a bridge to bring them across.
Some Ronin players use names ending in .ron instead of addresses. Keylo does not look up Ronin names, so ask for the 0x address behind a name, or check it in a Ronin app that resolves names, before you send. A name that resolves to an address you do not recognise is a reason to stop and confirm with the recipient.
- 1
Open RON, AXS or another Ronin token and tap Receive.
- 2
Copy the 0x address or show the QR code. Keylo labels it Ronin.
- 3
On the exchange, choose the Ronin network for RON, AXS or SLP. The Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain versions of AXS will not arrive on Ronin.
- 4
If a game or app shows your address as ronin:, that is the same account as your 0x address.
- 5
Watch Activity for the incoming transaction, with a link to the Ronin explorer.
How to send RON
If you are paying another player, ask for their address in writing rather than copying it from a chat profile or screenshot, where a single changed character is easy to miss. Game communities are frequent targets of impersonation, and transfers on Ronin cannot be reversed once confirmed.
- 1
Open RON or a Ronin token and tap Send.
- 2
Paste the recipient's 0x address, converting from ronin: if needed, or scan its QR code. Keylo checks the checksum and warns about contracts.
- 3
Enter the amount or tap Max.
- 4
Choose slow, normal or fast, then review the exact amount and network fee in RON.
- 5
Confirm. Keylo signs in your browser and broadcasts to Ronin.
Fees on Ronin
Ronin uses EIP-1559 style fees paid in RON, with a base fee plus a small priority tip. As an OP Stack layer 2, its costs also cover posting transaction data, which Ronin sends to EigenDA rather than to Ethereum itself, keeping that part small. A simple RON transfer costs a small fraction of a RON, and in-game actions that touch contracts cost more.
Keylo's slow, normal and fast options set the tip and fee cap, and the review screen shows the fee in RON before you sign. Some games sponsor gas for their players inside their own apps; when you send from Keylo, you pay the fee yourself. Keylo adds no fee to normal sends.
Tokens and game assets on Ronin
Ronin's best-known tokens are AXS, Axie Infinity's governance token, SLP, the in-game Smooth Love Potion, and RON itself, alongside wrapped ETH, USDC and tokens from other games. These are ERC-20 contracts on Ronin, separate from versions of AXS or SLP that exist on Ethereum. Keylo holds and sends Ronin ERC-20 tokens like any other.
Game NFTs such as Axies, land and items are traded on Ronin marketplaces through the apps that support them. Fake collections and lookalike tokens are common, so check contract addresses on the Ronin explorer and buy only through official marketplace links. Treat items or tokens that appear in your wallet unasked, especially ones that point to a website, as bait.
Swap or bridge RON
On Ronin, Keylo's swaps and bridges come from LI.FI, which shops DEX liquidity and audited bridges for a route. Players commonly swap earned tokens into RON for gas or into USDC to cash out, and bring ETH or stablecoins in from Ethereum or Base. The confirmation screen lists the route, what you should receive, the worst-case minimum and every fee, including any small service fee. More on how routing works is on swap and bridge.
Ronin's history is a reminder to choose bridges carefully: in 2022 its original bridge lost more than 600 million dollars after attackers compromised validator keys. Bridge designs have changed since, but the lesson stands. Keylo lets you watch a bridge transfer until it completes, and if a route breaks down, the protocol returns the funds to the wallet that sent them.
Ronin safety tips
- Convert ronin: addresses to 0x by changing only the prefix, then compare the rest character by character.
- Choose the Ronin network for RON, AXS and SLP withdrawals.
- Ignore direct messages offering free Axies, airdrops or game support; real support never asks for your phrase.
- Only buy NFTs through official marketplace links, and verify collection contracts.
- Limit approvals to game contracts you trust, and revoke old ones.
- Back up your recovery phrase offline. How Keylo protects your funds explains the account safeguards.
Frequently asked questions
Is a ronin: address different from a 0x address?
No. ronin: is an older display format for the same account. Replace ronin: with 0x and the remaining 40 characters stay the same. Keylo uses the 0x form, and Ronin itself has moved to 0x addresses, though some apps and guides still show the old prefix.
Is Ronin still a sidechain?
No. Ronin completed its migration to an Ethereum layer 2 built on the OP Stack in May 2026, with EigenDA for data availability. The chain ID, the RON gas token, addresses and balances all stayed the same, and players did not need to take any action.
Can I send AXS from Ethereum to my Ronin address?
Not by a normal transfer. AXS on Ethereum and AXS on Ronin are separate tokens on separate chains. Sending Ethereum AXS to your 0x address leaves it on Ethereum, where Keylo shows it under Ethereum. Use a bridge, such as a route found by Keylo's swap and bridge feature, to move it to Ronin.
Do I need RON to play games on Ronin?
Every Ronin transaction needs gas in RON unless a game sponsors it inside its own app. When you send tokens or items from Keylo, the fee comes from your RON balance, so keep a small amount of RON in your wallet.
Can I import my Ronin Wallet into Keylo?
If your Ronin Wallet has a 12- or 24-word recovery phrase, yes. Import it in Keylo and the first account should appear with the same address, since both use the standard Ethereum path. Accounts created through keyless or social login methods have no phrase to import.
